An Anaphora— I hear the sound of silence
I hear the sound of silence — in the creek
Oh the hurry! rhythmic gurgles in joy’s cause!
A chatter of liquid sounds in enthused haste,
Thrilled, turns into an unceasing applause.
I hear the sound of silence — in the breeze
Loaded with the green valley’s fragrant delight;
Not only does it reassure blue-winged birds,
There is an ardent reach in their soaring flight.
I hear the sound of silence — in the bud
That the tomorrow will drink ampler dew;
Bright purple will join gold of the orange
And swiftly bring news of the wondrous new.
I hear the sound of silence — in the dream,
It seeing a bourgeoning vibrant city!
Willed by a Yogi in the future’s spirit
Twelve pillars uphold the inspired reverie.
I hear the sound of silence — in the night,
Twinkles in her darkness tell me everything;
Her depths are miraculously prized, unique,
In them a strange musician has a song to sing.
I hear the sound of silence — in the flame,
A diamond will ablaze in soul of the earth;
It’s the mystic fire that will materialise
Greatly proclaim surhomme taking willed birth.

Notes
1: The Mother: Auroville is a dream of the Lord and generally these ‘dreams’ turn out to be true—much more true than the human so-called realities! [20 May 1966] Auroville was inaugurated on 28 February 1968. The Inner Chamber of Matrimandir has twelve pillars. In her meditation with Sri Aurobindo in their first meeting on 29 March 1914 she saw a new world and asked him if it will come down. With his yogic “Yes” it started descending.
2: A turning point in the Agenda occurs on January 1, 1969, when the Mother announces the arrival and permanent establishment of the “Consciousness of the Overman”, Surhomme, on Earth. It is a golden benevolent formidably powerful consciousness that descended to act as a direct mentor for the physical transformation. For her this Overman was not a philosophical theory but a biological and material necessity. In the Agenda she treats her own body as a laboratory—infusing the “supramental force” directly into her cells to break down the old evolutionary coding (like illness, decay, and the subconscious reflex of death). She laid out the physical path for the transitional Overman Race, Sri Aurobindo’s Intermediate Race, to walk in.
