“Winds come to me from Fields of Sleep“
I wait for wings to come from the zoom sky,
And the surprise, — hurry down Real-Ideas;
My poems are eager for revelation’s idiom, —
And hear the soundless footsteps of promptest Muse;
Tossed in occult night adrift is the horned moon,—
And plummets gold coin in the deep lotus-pond;
Suddenly there is haste of oceanic episodes, —
And ages gather into unending hour;
Voices of silence booming in hills and dales
Resound in the new emerald-draped sylvan;
Past it is orange fire that kindles orange fires,
Auguries proclaiming birth of son of the body;
He is victor in the race of life chased by death,
A galloper on tracks of the prophetic game;
Disdained matter now awakens to its spirit,
And glowing things of gold own gold, blaze the blaze;
Celebrated gods applaud his advent,
But far more is my acclamation of him.
At massive door hearken knock of the house-owner,
Oh, with fragrant Winds of Wonder does he come.
