A welcome to deathlessness
Sure, one of these days I will die,
But that won’t be for the first time;
Again and again it happens
When the form has outlived its prime.
Life chose to have a game with death
To stir the spirit of matter;
What a brave stunning sacrifice,
Holocaust, fire-seeds to scatter!
There is marvel of the Autumn
And fallen leaves need not decay;
That indeed is the enterprise,
How-and-why of the cryptic play.
Phoenix shall fly into the rock
To soar again with orange tail;
Now I understand the wise thing, —
This earth-life deathlessness shall hail.
