   Doraiswami Iyer was a powerful senior advocate in the Madras Highcourt of those days. But the wonderful thing was, he had personal contact with Sri Aurobindo. It was he who was the envoi of the Master to take recommendation for the acceptance of the Stafford Cripps’s Mission offering dominion status to India, in 1942. But the leaders in New Delhi in their wisdom ridiculed it and the Mission had failed. It was the beginning of a tragedy for free and united India. The horrors that ensued from it, and which continue to be there even now, is the dark bitter fruit of history.

   Doraiswami’s son Mithran had grown up to the age of having his thread ceremony done; but he would perform it only if he would get a Mantra from Sri Aurobindo. How gracious! and we have it now as Sri Aurobindo’s Gayatri, perfect with 16+8 syllables. It is the Mantra for the birth of a new body, for a divine life in a divine body, not only immortal but more importantly deathless, body as per the needs and demands of the manifestive Consciousness-Force.

   Dear Sir 🙏

   This little fragment of Sri Aurobindo’s letter is the Key to open the kingdom of Divine Grace in each of us:

   “All in your inner and outer existence is one”

   becomes

   “All in You is the child of the Mother”

   because

   “You are completely identified with the Divine Mother and feel yourself to be no longer another and separate being, instrument, servant or worker but truly a child and eternal portion of her consciousness and force” (The Mother – 5, from the same time as the Birthday letter)

   Sri Aurobindo writes to Stafford Cripps

   Sir Stafford Cripps

   I have heard your broadcast. As one who has been a nationalist leader and worker for India’s independence though now my activity is no longer in the political but in the spiritual field, I wish to express my appreciation of all you have done to bring about this offer. I welcome it as an opportunity given to India to determine for herself and organise in all liberty of choice her freedom and unity and take an effective place among the world’s free nations. I hope that it will be accepted and the right use made of it putting aside all discords and divisions. I hope too that a friendly relation between Britain and India replacing past struggles will be a step towards a greater world union in which as a free nation her spiritual force will contribute to build for mankind a better and happier life. In this light I offer my public adhesion in case it can be of any help in your work.
