The Leaves of Palāsh Tree — Complete Set

Here is a compilation of the fifty compositions that have appeared on this page during the last few days. These have now been checked and revised at places to give a final form.

In the meanwhile, it will be wonderful if Akash Deshpande can spare time and do the rendering into English. He has already done a few, but complete set will be most desirable; it will be cherished something as precious. This will form a part of the complete text. My hearty thanks are due to him.

Feedback from the knowledgeable readers is most welcome. I am thankful to them all for having participated in this new experiment in Marathi. With that the work can be taken for regular publication. It is distinctly believed that it certainly can be more creative and valuable, worth being taken forward. Let us anticipate that, if not today tomorrow, this will happen.

    पळसाची पाने हा तुमचा काव्यसंग्रह खूपच छान झाला आहे. ह्या तीनच ओळींच्या कविता खूप काही सांगून जातात. त्यांच्यात जिवंतपणा आहे त्यामुळे त्या गूढ, कल्पनेतले सत्य, भावुकता अशा अनेक अविष्कारांनी भरलेल्या आहेत आणि म्हणूनच त्या मनोरंजक आणि विचारांना चालना देणाऱ्या आहेत. आता पहा #१७ – देशपांड्यांचा वाडा – किती मोहक आणि थोड्या शब्दात वास्तवाच वर्णन केल आहे, #१९ – ध्वनि विचारे – मधे, कुठे धबधबा कुठे सागर पण उगमाकडे जाण्याची ओढ वाटते की नाही. #२५ – इथे लटकलेले शेपूट – ही कविता वाचून मला एका छानशा चित्राची आठवण झाली. त्यात माणसाचे हातही वर टेकलेले नाहीत आणि पायही धारतीचा स्पर्श सोडत नाहीत, अश्या मधल्या अवस्थेतला साधक. सगळ्याच कविता अशा भावपूर्ण आहेत.

    ह्या कवितांच इंग्लिश भाषांतर पूर्ण झाल्यावर तर खरंच त्यांना ‘चार चाँद’ लागतील.

      ​सुरेखच. अनेक धन्यवाद. तुमचे हे छोटेशे विचारात्मक पद्धतशीर मांडलेले परीक्षण खूप सांगून जाते. संबंधित दिलेली उदाहरणे भावतात. हा एक प्रयोग. जास्त न सांगता गुढात खूप खूप खोल जाण्याचा प्रयत्न. जर पहिली आणि तिसरी ओळ यमकबद्ध असेल तर त्यातील मार्मिकता अजून वाढेल. बघूयात कुठपर्यंत जमते ते.

    This is a set of beautiful poems which range from reality to mysticism. While lines such as “सुज्ञ हूपुला प्यावे लागले प्यालाभर विष” in #41 have more “real” and straightforward meanings, expressions such as “ढग नाहीत पण पडत आहे पाऊस, वीणा नाही पण येतो मधुर आवाज,” in #22 are more mystic and I believe can be best appreciated only after gaining some maturity.

      I like your appreciation. Thanks. It is a kind of attempt that tries to bring something of Haiku into Marathi poetry. There has to be terseness,तीव्रता, clinching a certain revelatory reality which is more than the mystic expression. Generally it goes deeper and deeper than higher and higher, belonging to the inner mental rather than to overhead.
