I am the destroyer

Create I cannot but I am the destroyer

Of the things of the spirit, true and smiling;

My roar and laughter with all their starkness

Smite the will in sureness of the evolving time;

Fugacious and fleeting are desires of vain life

Born in rocky somnambulist stuff of the seed;

Who can challenge my fierce law, and my decree,

When missioned I am by the compelling night herself?

3 December 2024

Death missioned to the night his lethal call. ||137.29||

“This is my silent dark immensity…

Entombing the vanity of life’s desires. ||137.30||

Hast thou beheld thy source, O transient heart,

And known from what the dream thou art was made?” ||137.31||

[Savitri Book Nine Canto Two]

    Death is pooh-poohing Savitri, belittling her as if she was a common creature with human frailties, subject to the laws of death and ignorance and ordinary nature. He failed to recognise as to whom he was facing. This is so because he is missioned by the Night and is unable to see things. It is the prompting of the Night that makes him say all that he is saying. Eventually Night herself will know that her game is over.

    Here is a part of the comment sent through email by Justyn Jędraszewski:

    “Candle is dying when lit by fire, the fire is eating it like a cake – the same with us, with Satyavan, death eats him and the Savitri-light grows larger, brighter…the end is far better than the initial darkness…

    Once Love is growing up all is changed for ever, She is the Grace in the grave of night reborn into stronger, sweetest herSelf all the eternity by magic of silence – Her secret.”
