Matter illumines Night
Let Newton call matter but a brute thing,
Ungiven to change, tied by inertia’s string;
But wisely it was so, all gulping to avoid
By the spirit’s emptiness, the hungry Void;
However, now is awakened in it an urge,
From gainful voracity slowly to emerge;
Oh the physicist of change bears a name,
And his quests a gold-orange wonder acclaim!

द्रव्यं रात्रौ प्रकाशयति
न्यूटनः द्रव्यं किन्तु क्रूरं वस्तु इति आह्वयतु,
परिवर्तनार्थं अदत्तः, जडतायाः तारेन बद्धः;
परन्तु बुद्धिपूर्वकं तथैव आसीत्, सर्वे परिहाराय गलन्तः
आत्माशून्यतायाः क्षुधार्तः शून्यः;
तथापि इदानीं तस्मिन् प्रबुद्धः कामः,
लाभप्रदभोजनात् शनैः शनैः उद्भवितुं;
अहो परिवर्तनस्य भौतिकशास्त्रज्ञः नाम धारयति,
तस्य च अन्वेषणं सुवर्ण-नारङ्ग-आश्चर्य-अनुमोदनं!
