Nest of Joy

Thou hast built for the soul a tiny house, nest of joy,

With strands of music and hues of wonder’s rainbow;

Stream of ideas flows for its will of preciousness,

And visions come bearing intimations of beauty;

There is a desire cherished in this tranquil cubicle,

And fragrant breeze brings flames of kindled fire;

It shall enter into deep vein and tissue and marrow,

A golden intensity in the conscious body.

गृहं आनन्दनीडं

त्वया आत्मनः कृते लघु गृहं आनन्दनीडं निर्मितम्।

सङ्गीतसूत्रैः आश्चर्यस्य इन्द्रधनुषवर्णैः च;

तस्य बहुमूल्यं इच्छायाः कृते विचारधारा प्रवहति,

दर्शनानि च सौन्दर्यस्य संकेतं धारयन्तः आगच्छन्ति;

अस्मिन् शान्तकुले कामः पोषितः अस्ति,

सुगन्धितः च वायुः प्रज्वलितस्य अग्निज्वालाः आनयति;

गभीरं नाडीं ऊतकं मज्जां च प्रविशति,

चेतनशरीरे एकः सुवर्णतीव्रता।

    Nest of Pain: Keats’s Hyperion:

    How beautiful, if sorrow had not made
    Sorrow more beautiful than Beauty’s self.

    Then Thea spread abroad her trembling arms
    Upon the precincts of this nest of pain,
    And sidelong fix’d her eye on Saturn’s face:
    There saw she direst strife; the supreme God
    At war with all the frailty of grief,
    Of rage, of fear, anxiety, revenge,
    Remorse, spleen, hope, but most of all despair.
