“It is only like that can know like“
Ma,
A question has suddenly prevailed in me. Though I have some glimpses of the answer, I am unable to find it totally and in detail. So Ma, I want the answer as clearly as possible. I ask you to explain it to me just as things are explained to a child. Here is the question:
“It is Sri Aurobindo who has really known the Mother, and it is the Mother who has really known Sri Aurobindo.” What does this mean exactly?
It is only like that can know like.
Thus it is only one who has fully realised the Divine and is identified with Him who can recognise the Divine in another person and know that that person has realised the Divine and is identified with Him.
The others, all the others, can believe and even have faith, but they cannot know—for true knowledge is acquired by identity.
Sri Aurobindo, being the “Avatar” of the Supreme, was the only one who could recognise in me Aditi, the creative Consciousness. And I was the only one who could know for certain that he was the Supreme.

Aditi — The Divine Consciousness
Incarnating inexpressibly in her limbs
The boundless joy the blind world-forces seek,
Her body of beauty mooned the seas of bliss. ||81.20||
At the head she stands of birth and toil and fate,
In their slow round the cycles turn to her call;
Alone her hands can change Time’s dragon base. ||81.21||
Hers is the mystery the Night conceals;
The spirit’s alchemist energy is hers;
She is the golden bridge, the wonderful fire. ||81.22||
The luminous heart of the Unknown is she,
A power of silence in the depths of God;
She is the Force, the inevitable Word,
The magnet of our difficult ascent,
The Sun from which we kindle all our suns,
The Light that leans from the unrealised Vasts,
The joy that beckons from the impossible,
The Might of all that never yet came down. ||81.23||
A skyward being nourishing its roots
On sustenance from occult spiritual founts
Climbed through white rays to meet an unseen Sun. ||5.10||
His soul lived as eternity’s delegate,
His mind was like a fire assailing heaven,
His will a hunter in the trails of light. ||5.11||
A static Oneness and dynamic Power
Descend in him, the integral Godhead’s seals;
His soul and body take that splendid stamp. ||5.26||
