येईल उज्वल शरीरधर्म

नसे थोडीही कल्पना ह्या थकलेल्या देहाची,

बिनखात्रीचे वृद्धापण, भयानक अगतिकता;

होईलका वस्त्र ते जीर्ण टाकूनी देण्याकरताच,

आशेचे धागे विस्कटलेल्या तुच्छ भावभावना?

बलिष्ठ होते ते, हुतुतुत पटाईत एके समयी,

तडफदार, कठीणतम स्पर्धा त्या जिंकणारे;

तरी देखील न होई जन्माची पुण्याई क्षीण,

न लागे काळाचे काळे धक्के कधीही तिला;

धावत धावते तारूण्य चढे शिखरावरचे शिखर उंच,

धडाडी निश्चित गाठण्या उत्कृष्टतेचे अभिसौष्ठवत्व;

निर्मितिक्षम जीवन होऊनि प्रबळीनी ती गंगा

वाहे आणण्या महान सागराचीच अगाधता;

उद्भवती त्या अर्णवातून सौररत्ने तळपणारी,

उजळुनी ही पार्थिवता करण्या अलंकृत यौवन;

मग उज्ज्वल शरीरधर्म न बाळगे ते जुने मरणत्व,

येणाऱ्या उद्याला नसे लागे सांजवात कधीही.

This worn robe is fit only be discarded

Threads of hope disarrayed, emotions demeaned 

It was strong, skilled in hututu running games

Dashing, rigorously competitive, a winner

And never weakened this virtue gathered since birth

Merit unaffected by the black shocks of time

Swift youth climbs running pinnacle on high pinnacle

With daring verily to capture the excellence of supreme beauty

Becoming life creation-capable the strong Ganga

Flows to bring the vastness of the great ocean itself

And from that ocean rise shining sun-jewels

Illuminating earthliness to ornament youth

Then the intense body-nature abides not habitual mortality

The coming tomorrow will never be tinged by dusky eventide
