That formidable reality
The dark infinity of unawareness,
Is a formidable opposite reality;
But a wisest thought had designed it so,
In freedom for the spirit’s urge to multiply be;
It’s a dense fancy budding in flourishing joy,
A dream wandering with the locus of the truth;
So does a preciousness come in her pride,
And dismiss deceitful falsehood born of death.

A sardonic rictus
A Power that laughed at the mischief of the world,
An irony that joined the world’s contraries
And flung them into each other’s arms to strive,
Put a sardonic rictus on God’s face. ||56.17||
