“Earth must make in her God”
There is music in the pebble and in the floweret,
Smile of orangish dawn in dew of the wild meadow;
Deep within dwells a seer who sees suns in the night,
A miracle of sight witnessing the unseeable;
Noonday heavens are now present here too,
Ideas of God thumping in throbs and thrills;
Because he is everywhere, here too his triumph
Opens out mysteries of own genes and forms.

Transfigured Death is still tempting and arguing with Savitri about the impossibility of a noble spiritual-divine life upon earth, in this mortal world, mṛtyu-loka. But would not that look rather strange that he who had put on that mask of the Antagonist should not know in his operative omniscience that it was precisely for that the creation had been willed? Is he feigning ignorance, is seriously doubtful about the mission with which she is charged? But perhaps there is a greater force of dynamism in that pretence of his. He wants, he proposes that it should be claimed, that it should be demanded and not kind of just gifted away. An urge from the soul of the earth would mean her preparedness, her readiness for the bright transformative change. Savitri rises to the occasion.
Then with a smile august as noonday heavens
The godhead of the vision wonderful:
How shall earth-nature and man’s nature rise
To the celestial levels, yet earth abide?… ||152.1||
O Flame, withdraw into thy luminous self
Or else return to thy original might
On a seer-summit above thought and world… ||152.28||
But Savitri answered to the radiant God:
In vain thou temptst with solitary bliss
Two spirits saved out of a suffering world… ||153.1||
Since God has made earth, earth must make in her God;
What hides within her breast she must reveal. ||153.9||

The god|+head of| the vi|+sion won|+der+ful:|

But Sa|+vi+tri an|+swered to| the ra|+di+ant God:|
“In vain| thou temptst| with sol|+i+ta|ry bliss|

Savitri and Savitri are all for this:
To raise the world to God in deathless Light,
To bring God down to the world on earth we came,
To change the earthly life to life divine.
