Someone astonished me

Someone astonished me with a white tender smile,

Radiating purity hailing the pledged vow;

It seemed its fragrance could be gathered in nostrils

That had become occult when hummed the crowned bee;

Friends came with loads of gifts, —most affable joy,

Truth with a caste-mark on the shining forehead,

Beauty dancing with pearl rings in her two lobes;

Oh comes the morning, the goldenest future!

Radiating Purity

Featured image: Gardenia augusta (L.), Gandharāj

Medium to large highly fragrant single white salverform flower, a medium to large shrub with attractive glossy foliage.

The Mother’s significance:

Radiating Purity

It charms and fascinates. It makes Nature fragrant.

Purity comes with Sincerity and vice versa, both from the Mystic Fire, Agni the Purifier, Agni Pāvaka.

Day came, priest of a sacrifice of joy

Into the worshipping silence of her world;

He carried a mortal lustre as his robe,

Trailed Heaven like a purple scarf and wore

As his vermilion caste-mark a red sun. ||125.18||
