The triple sound

A mirror for the dragon brought back the past,

Time gathered in the body of triple sound;      

There goes the call to giver of approvals,         

And is offered gross and subtle, old, new, to him;

Then in a union unique and resplendent

Begins to blaze the flame that waited so long;

Now the dragon of the foundations awakes

To tomorrow which is more than the future.

त्रिगुणध्वनिः

अजगरस्य दर्पणः अतीतं पुनः आनयत्,

त्रिगुणध्वनिकाये सङ्गृहीतः कालः;

तत्र अनुमोदनदातुः आह्वानं गच्छति, .   

तस्मै च स्थूलसूक्ष्मं पुरातनं नवीनं च समर्प्यते;

ततः संयोगे अद्वितीये तेजस्वी च

एतावत्कालं प्रतीक्षमाणं ज्वालाम् प्रज्वलितुं आरभते;

अधुना आधारानाम् अजगरः जागरति

श्वः प्रति यत् भविष्यात् अधिकम् अस्ति।

The three sounds of Mantra are Evocation-Surrender-Identification. In the first goes the call, in the second the body’s cells make their surrender; then the body identifies with That, which produces the divine life.

An inert Soul and a somnambulist Force

Have made a world estranged from life and thought;

The Dragon of the dark foundations keeps

Unalterable the law of Chance and Death;

On his long way through Time and Circumstance

The grey-hued riddling nether shadow-Sphinx,

Her dreadful paws upon the swallowing sands,

Awaits him armed with the soul-slaying word:

Across his path sits the dim camp of Night. ||89.29||
