Beauty of corals

A temple that has not in it the time-shaping god

Cannot be the magnificence keen urges seek;

In the dazzle of red and pink rare is the blue,

Unwon by reason or by imagination;

And silent instants build in the ocean’s surge

Intense corals of confident brilliance;

The smiling joy that causes all the floods

Inundates deeper sense with adoration!

प्रवालानाम् सौन्दर्यम्

यस्मिन् मन्दिरस्य कालरूपः देवः नास्ति

न भवितुमर्हति यत् भव्यतां तीक्ष्णा आग्रहाः अन्विषन्ति;

रक्तगुलाबीप्रभायां दुर्लभं नीलं,

कारणेन कल्पनाया वा अजिता;

शान्तक्षणाः च समुद्रस्य प्रवाहे निर्मान्ति

आत्मविश्वासयुक्तस्य तेजस्य तीव्रप्रवालाः;                         

सस्मितानन्दः यः सर्वान् जलप्लावनं जनयति

आराधनेन गहनतरं अर्थं प्लावयति!
