Dagadu and Téjas

Dagadu had a bull and its name was Téjas,

Strong with a will that would conquer a mountain;

Its food was fresh grass dipped in jaggery water,

And its sleep the dreams of the stars for tireless day;

Season after season more it became golden,

Even as Dagadu saw his harvest smiling;

Then one bright glad morning Téjas drove Dagadu

To the solar house built for the future.

दगडुः तेजस च

दगडुः वृषभः आसीत्, तस्य नाम तेजस आसीत्,

पर्वतं जित्वा संकल्पेन बलवान्;

तस्य भोजनं नवतृणं गुडजले निमज्जितम्,

तस्य च निद्रा नक्षत्राणां स्वप्नाः अथकदिनस्य कृते;

ऋतुः ऋतुः अधिकः सुवर्णः अभवत्,

यथा अपि दगडुः स्वस्य कृषिक्षेत्रस्य उपजं स्मितं दृष्टवान्;

ततः एकस्मिन् उज्ज्वले प्रसन्नप्रभाते तेजस दगडु इत्यस्य वाहनं चालितवान्

भविष्याय निर्मितं सौरगृहं प्रति।
