The Winds of Wonder

The alchemy

Someone wondered in the breast of the night,

A jewel-fire bringing close the distant promise;

The sound of a hundred bells booming in silence

Made the prophecy truer than prized time;

All hopes gathered in the lifeful basin of faith

Sprang up in the valley of greenest luxury;

Fiery image glowed in darkness’s heart,

Alchemic smile changing anguish into joy.

कीमिया

कश्चित् रात्रौ वक्षःस्थले आश्चर्यचकितः,

दूरप्रतिज्ञां समीपं आनयन् रत्नाग्निः;

मौने गुञ्जमानानां शतघण्टानां शब्दः

बहुमूल्यसमयापेक्षया भविष्यद्वाणीं सत्यं कृतवान्;

श्रद्धायाः जीवन्तं कुण्डे सर्वाणि आशाः समागताः

हरिततमविलासस्य उपत्यकायां उत्पन्नः;

अन्धकारस्य हृदये उग्रप्रतिमा दीप्तवती,

कीमियाहसः पीडां आनन्दं परिवर्तयति।
