“I want to be many“

There was aureate fire but there were no flames,

Great floods everywhere but there were no seas;

There was lone spirit and souls appeared not yet,

A silence that had not still whispered around;

Then arose a desire, a stupendous will,

“I want to be many”, and a sudden wind smiled;

The one spawned in valleys and orchards, of joys,

Each to bear visions of thrilled sense and sound.

“अहं बहु भवितुम् इच्छामि ।“

अग्निः आसीत् किन्तु ज्वालाः न आसन्,

सर्वत्र महतीं जलप्लावनं किन्तु समुद्राः नासन्;

एकाकी आत्मा आसीत्, प्राणाः च न अद्यापि प्रादुर्भूताः,

मौनं यत् अद्यापि परितः न कुहूकुहू कृतवान् आसीत्;

ततः समुद्भूतः कामः प्रचण्डः संकल्पः ।

“अहं बहु भवितुम् इच्छामि”, सहसा वायुः स्मितं कृतवान्;

उपत्यकेषु फलोद्यानेषु च प्रसूतिः आनन्दानाम् ।

प्रत्येकं रोमाञ्चितेन्द्रियस्य शब्दस्य च दर्शनानि सहितुं।
